About Matt Powell.
I’m a Senior Designer with expertise in print and production.
I work across visual identity, packaging and advertising.
Good ideas shouldn’t look like everyone else’s
I combine visual direction with hands-on design to shape brand identities, design packaging and bring campaign ideas to life across channels. The aim isn’t difference for the sake of it. It’s to make the brand more recognisable, memorable, the idea more persuasive and the design harder to forget.
I look for the move that breaks the pattern without breaking the brand.
Clients
I recently worked with THIS™ to rebrand its core 100% plant-based range, creating the visual identity that is transforming the brand over a phased rollout. I delivered category standout packaging across six major UK retailers AND doubled THIS™ rate of sales on & off promotions.
I've unified Fastmarkets’ portfolio a global B2B transformation, roll it out across 21 websites and more than 180 communications assets.
I've worked on Dunhill's global rebrand and repositioning Vuse's Street Covers campaign across five international cities; as well as European campaigns for e.l.f. Cosmetics and Tetley. UK festivals activations for Russian Standard vodka, Zubrowka vodka. Russian Standard's activation reached approximately 90,000 attendees and a reported national audience of 13 million.
I’ve also worked on brand, campaign and experience projects for Jaguar & Land Rover, Bentley, Skoda, Allianz Olympic & Paralympic Partnership, GSK, Russian Standard, Ford, Honda Marine, Virgin Media & Paralympic Partnership, Reebok, Adidas, Southern Comfort, Dunhill and NEOM/ENOWA.
The process
I put designs through their paces: on screens, on packaging, in retail, across campaigns and out in the world. The design systems I build give brands room to evolve without losing what makes them distinctive. Guidelines should protect a brand’s character, not squeeze it out. They should give people enough structure to work consistently and enough freedom to make something interesting.
I know what happens after a design is approved. My experience Artworking for digital and litho print, large-format graphics, signage, CNC fabrication and site installations gives me a practical understanding of materials, processes and how work gets made. That knowledge informs decisions from the first scamp, helping the work move smoothly through production process.
Let's talk
I’m open to permanent, fixed-term and freelance opportunities in London and the South East, hybrid or remote. I’m particularly interested in projects where design can improve and help shape a brand’s next stage.
